A San Francisco native, Shawn began his music career playing the local circuit at the young age of 13. At 17 years old he and Paige Haley who later would become the bassist for the multi platinum selling band Orgy, formed the band Sister Strange. In no time the band begun selling out clubs all over the Bay Area. After years of recording and shows this opened the door for Shawn. He recieved a phone call from Steven Adler (Guns & Roses) and Davy Vain (Vain) who were forming the project Roadcrew and asked him to move to Los Angeles to play guitar. After numerous recordings and tours, the band minus Adler decided to move home to S.F. and reform Vain with Shawn on guitar and Danny Fury (Lords Of The New Church) on drums. The album "Move On It" was released by that project. Shawn then decided to take a shot at fronting his own project. "Wish" began playing San Francisco and led to opening for such acts as Weezer and Material Issue. The band also became a requested favorite on Southern California College Radio. Then Shawn got an offer in 1994 to join the highly acclaimed S.F. act "Heavy Into Jeff". They toured the U.S. and Canada numerous times opening for such bands as Oasis and Cherry Poppin Daddies. They released two albums and continued touring vigorously for the next few years. Shawn then joined Singer/Songwriter Devin Powers on MCA records to play guitar for The Vents. The album was added to Top 40 radio staions the first week out and the single "One Way Ticket" began to take off. This led The Vents on tour sharing the stage with such acts as Sugar Ray, Foo Fighters, Matchbox 20, Radio Head, The Offspring and Everclear. After supporting that album the members of The Vents began entertaining other projects which took Devin Powers to writing music for television and Shawn to again branch out on his own. He began writing and recording with such producing talents as Bernd Burgdorf (Pink, Linda Perry) Marc Desisto (U2, Don Henley) and Jay Gordon (Orgy). This brought Shawn again back to L.A. to stay. He has spent the last few years writing music again with Devin Powers on various TV shows. Along with this Shawn has also written for major label artist's and has done the music for several pilots and indie films while still finding time to get in session work on the guitar. He is currently playing and writing with Rockstar INXS finalist Deanna Johnston along with members of the band Fuel. Shawn has recieved high praise and reconition for his songwriting from numerous top names in the music industry. He is also one of the founding members of thehitsource.com which is a catalog of music cues aimed at fulfilling all production needs. |
